Children at Gail’s learn holistically – that is every experience provides opportunities to learn a wide range of skills and subject matter. For example while tipping, digging and filling containers in the sandpit children are learning concepts of maths as they explore volume, measuring, subtraction, addition and weights. They are also learning literacy as they draw maps and plans in the sand. Their social skills are devleoped as they brainstorm, negotiate and assign roles together. Science learning happens as substances change forms in the composition of pies and cakes and laws of physics dictate why water flows through their channels but builds up pressure behind the dams they construct.
